The ideal shockwave for equine, mixed and small animal clinical practice
The VBS Direct Shockwave unit provides energy through an electromechanical process as opposed to compressed mechanical energy, enabling it to provide a more comfortable patient experience.
The user friendly, touch screen interface includes several recognised treatment protocols for a range of common musculoskeletal conditions.
The compact and portable shockwave comes with a robust, hard shell carrier case allowing for ease of transportation and protection in the field or between clinics.
There is a simple to use, intuitive operating system with the additional option to save personal protocol set up.
- Colour touchscreen technology
- Preset treatment suggestions for common musculoskeletal injuries
- 16 user-defined treatments
- Energy levels from 60-180 mJ (equivalent 1-5 bar)
- Pulse frequencies from 8-22 Hz
- Burst mode for Trigger Point treatment
- Positive and negative shockwave counter
- Negative shockwave counter with value preset
- Total treatment energy display
- Personal protocol set-up
What can shockwave therapy treat?
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is an emerging new technology for treating
musculoskeletal problems, soft tissue and bone injuries in horses and dogs. ESWT is noninvasive
and used to stimulate healing, so that horses and dogs can return to a level of full
fitness and useful activity without recurrence of disease. Shockwave stimulates the body’s
own repair process by increasing the blood flow to affected areas, which accelerates healing
and often results in quicker relief from pain. It also helps heal chronic inflammation,
stimulates collagen, which connects and supports tissue, and also breaks up calcium deposits.
Shockwave therapy has been found to be most therapeutically beneficial treatment for
injuries at the soft tissue-bone interface. These areas are often difficult to medicate, and
unsuitable for surgery. Therefore, the non-invasive and focused attributes of ESWT have
proved extremely valuable.
Examples of such injuries are:
- Proximal suspensory desmitis
- Collateral ligament injuries
- Digital Flexor tenosynovitis
- Calcification of tendons/ligaments
- Bone spavins
- Stress Fractures / Non-Unions
- Navicular Disease
- Sacro-iliac injuries
- Joint Osteoarthritis
- Tendinopathies
Biological Effects:
- Vasodilation and new vessel growth
- Stem cell activation
- Anti-inflammatory effects
- Release of growth factors (eNOS, BMP, VEGF etc.)
- Release of neurotransmitters
Radial Shockwave can be combined effectively with K-Laser to enhance clinical speed and quality of healing.
